We have a wide
range of volunteering opportunities at The Art Ministry. We provide a fun and
rewarding environment, with appropriate training and support, and the payment
of reasonable expenses. No matter what your skills are, we are sure
that we can make use of them. There are always
opportunities for volunteer session helpers. Sessions run throughout the
week, as shown on the Schedule page, and you can pick and
choose which sessions you would like to help with. We
also need helpers at community events, you can see
the events on our calendar. Here's
an update on what we are doing and where we could do with your help. Regular
sessions All
of our pre-Covid 19 sessions are
back up and running, except for our fortnightly sessions at the Peaceful
Place and weekly sessions at a complex needs hostel in Southend,
both on Fridays. We
have one new weekly session in Hadleigh, for older
children with SEN, on Tuesdays, 6 to 8, with the Monday one, 5 to 7, being
mainly for younger children. Both of these need volunteer helpers. We
have a new weekly term time only session at a junior school in Westcliff on Wednesdays, 4 to 5.30. We need volunteer helpers
for this as there are usually 12 to 15 young children. Our
regular Monday morning, 11 to 1, and Tuesday morning, 11 to 1 sessions in Hadleigh both need volunteer helpers. We
have just received funding to allow us to run a new weekly session in Southend for visually impaired adults for three years. We
will alert you to volunteering opportunities once we have sorted out a time
and a place for the sessions. Jubilee
creative activities We
have received funding from the National Lottery Community Fund to allow us to
put on loads of free creative activities to celebrate the Queen's Platinum
Jubilee. We
need volunteer helpers for all of the activities, even if you can only do
part of a session. Saturday 28th May - free community art and craft
activity fete at Hadleigh United Reformed Church, 1
to 4. We need volunteers to provide refreshments, help with activities and to
drag friends and family along! Sunday 29th May - free community art
and craft activities at the Leigh on Sea Jubilee Picnic in
Bonchurch Park, 12 to 3. Monday
30th May - inter-generational art and craft activities at
Chaucer House sheltered scheme in Southend for up
to 30 kids, 1 to 3. Tuesday 31st May - free kids' Jubilee art and craft activities at Leigh on Sea Community Centre, 2 to 4 (two one hour sessions for 30 kids at a time). Exhibition of Works After a three year break due to
Covid-19 we will be exhibiting the works of our service users at Hadleigh Old Fire Station on 30th June. We
will be open to the public from 12 to 4, and to invited guests, including
you, from 7 to 9.30. We need volunteer helpers from 9 in the morning to help
us set up the exhibition, and during the day and evening to provide
refreshments, act as hosts and to help clear up. Any help for any period of
time will be greatly appreciated. This year is our 30th anniversary
and so we want the event to be really special. Lions Mid Summer Sports Day
and Festival for Disabled People After a three year gap this
all day event on is back on 30/6 at The King John School in Thundersley. Children and adults from across Essex with a
wide range of disabilities attend, taking part in all sorts of sporting
activities, and The Art Ministry's creative drop in sessions. We need loads of volunteer helpers as the sessions can
get very busy, especially if it rains! Any help for any period of time will be greatly
appreciated. As
well as session helpers, we also need volunteers behind the scenes to help
The Art Ministry run smoothly, such as helping with administration,
fund-raising and grant applications. If you have a
particular skill that you would like to teach to a session, such as card
making, glass painting etc., then we would be happy for you to volunteer your
services on an occasional basis. We would provide materials and cover
reasonable expenses. To download an application form click here: Volunteer
Application Form We
are always seeking new trustees to help us run The Art Ministry. It's a great
opportunity to broaden your horizons, develop new and/or use existing skills and
to make a contribution to a very worthwhile local charity. Trustee
meetings are six times a year, usually on a weekday evening. Each trustee has
a specific remit, such as fundraising or volunteer management, and they all share
in general management and responsibility for completing the action points
that result from the trustee meetings. Please click on the link below to see the role
